The FUJIFILM X-T3 is a versatile mirrorless camera designed for videographers and action photographers alike, with high-speed performance, more-than-capable images, and multimedia versatility. High-resolution stills and 4K video may be recorded utilizing a newly designed image sensor and processor, while an adept autofocus system provides rapid and precise focusing performance. The sensor, a 26.1MP APS-C-format X-Trans CMOS 4, has a back-illuminated design to improve image quality across the sensitivity range, as well as a large 2.16m-point phase-detection autofocus system for rapid, precise AF performance and subject tracking. The X-Processor 4 complements the imaging and focusing by employing four CPUs for speedier picture processing, as well as continuous shooting at 11 frames per second with a mechanical shutter, 30 frames per second with a 1.25x crop and electronic shutter, and inbuilt 4K60p 10-bit video recording. The X-T3 keeps the classically inspired appearance and prominent tactile controls of previous X-T cameras but adds a revolutionary OLED electronic viewfinder design with a 3.69m-dot resolution and a high 0.75x magnification. This finder offers a high refresh rate of 100 fps for smooth viewing and does not have blackouts when filming at the maximum 30 fps rate. A special Sports Finder Mode may also be employed, which emphasizes the 16.6MP crop area to offer you more room outside of the frame to detect moving things. A rear 3.2" 1.04m-dot LCD monitor, on the other hand, may be utilized for live view shooting and bigger picture playback. The X-T3 also has built-in Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote control, and the magnesium alloy shell is entirely weather-sealed for working in inclement weather.
The X-T3 is built on a newly designed sensor, which is an APS-C-format 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with a back-illuminated design for smooth tonal rendering, increased low-light performance, and a low native ISO 160 setting. It still uses the randomized pixel array as an X-Trans sensor, which delivers a high level of picture clarity and sharpness due to the lack of an optical low-pass filter. In comparison to traditional pixel patterns, the X-Trans design more closely resembles the organic nature of film to provide subtle colors and tonal transitions while eliminating moiré and aliasing. The sensor's architecture also contains an enlarged phase-detection autofocus system with 2,160,000 points that span virtually the whole sensor surface. This AF technology provides faster, more accurate focusing as well as low-light sensitivity down to EV -3. In addition to the imaging and focusing capabilities, an upgraded X-Processor 4 is included, which provides quicker focus response for subject tracking and also offers Face- and Eye-Detection AF when operating in AF-C mode and recording video. The X-Processor 4 also has four CPU units for speedier picture processing, which improves overall performance with AF rates as low as 0.06 sec. Shooting intervals of 0.17 seconds, shutter lag of 0.045 seconds, and a start-up time of 0.3 seconds. Continuous shooting at up to 11 frames per second with a mechanical shutter or 30 frames per second with an electronic shutter and a 1.25x crop is possible, and internal UHD 4K60 video recording with 10-bit output is also supported.
The X-T3 is more than just a stills camera; it also has a tempting variety of video capabilities, including internal UHD 4K60p video recording at 4:2:0 10-bit and 4K60p 4:2:2 10-bit through the HDMI output, both at up to 400 Mb/s—and simultaneous external and internal recording is possible. DCI 4K30 and Full HD 1080p120 recordings are also supported, and video files may be stored in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 or HEVC/H.265 compression, as well as 4K. The quad-CPU X-Processor 4's speed greatly improves overall video performance by enabling quick read rates of 17 ms while recording 4K60 footage, which helps to decrease rolling shutter distortion when capturing moving objects. The X-T3 has the F-Log gamma setting, which produces a flat image for use in advanced color grading applications during editing, in addition to the supporting 10-bit color depth. This increases the possible dynamic range in tough circumstances, and picture modifications to highlight tone, shadow tone, color, and sharpness may also be done. Working in F-Log now includes an improved noise reduction algorithm as well as 4K inter-frame noise reduction, and the minimum sensitivity has been reduced to ISO 640 to accommodate working in a wider range of scene types.
A 3.69m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides a high 0.75x magnification, rapid 100 fps refresh rate, broad viewing angle, and lockable diopter adjustment. The viewfinder is blackout-free while shooting at up to 30 frames per second, and a special Sports Finder Mode can also be used, which highlights a 16.6MP crop area of the sensor to allow you to see outside of the image frame. A rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD touchscreen is offered in addition to the EVF for easy live view shooting, playback and review, settings modification, and menu navigation. The screen also includes a three-way tilting design to accommodate working from high and low angles while filming horizontally or vertically. Dual SD card slots provide a more versatile and dependable way of storing imagery, and both card slots are UHS-II compliant for rapid transfer speeds. The top plate features several locking dials and levers for quick, simple exposure control, including a shutter speed dial for direct shutter speed change. The shutter speed dial includes an ISO dial for validating the sensitivity setting without turning on the camera, and the exposure compensation dial allows you to pick +/- 3 EV in 1/3 increments, with a command dial position expanding the range to +/- 5 EV for even more flexibility.
The X-T3 incorporates multiple Film Simulation modes, leveraging Fujifilm's extensive experience with conventional film-based photography. These modes are designed to replicate the look and feel of some of Fujifilm's classic film types, such as Eterna, which mimics the look of cinematic film with understated colors and richer shadow tones; Acros, which offers smooth tones, deep blacks, and fine detail; and Classic Chrome, which is designed to diver muted tones and deep color reproduction, similar to that of dated slide film. Other effects are available for both monochrome and color photography. A Grain Effect setting, in addition to mimicking specific film types, is available to imitate the look of antique film images with an organic grainy appearance, which is notably visible when printing.
